North Lombok Government Recognizes 300 Posyandu Cadres at “Gebyar Posyandu Desa” in Bayan

North Lombok, August 14, 2025 — More than 300 Posyandu (community health post) cadres in Bayan Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency, were formally recognized with Purwa, Madya, and Utama Cadre Pins at the Gebyar Posyandu Desa event, held alongside the Active Posyandu Promotion. The recognition followed a series of trainings and assessments conducted by local health center staff.

The event was supported by the 1000 Days Fund, Yayasan Amanah Bangun Negeri (YABN), Persada Capital Investama, and PT Infokes Indonesia, in collaboration with the Bayan Village Government and the North Lombok District Health Office. It was attended by North Lombok District Secretary Anding Duwi Cahyadi, S.STP., MM., and YABN Director Zuraida Murdia Hamdie.

Strengthening Health Systems from the Ground Up

Since 2022, the 1000 Days Fund has partnered with the District Health Office, community health centers (puskesmas), and village governments to strengthen grassroots health systems. To date, more than 500 Posyandu cadres across 8 villages and 3 health centers have been trained, in line with the Ministry of Health’s Integrated Primary Care Services policy.

Training materials included:

  • Stunting prevention using the Smart Poster

  • Accurate child growth measurement techniques

  • Posyandu management aligned with the 5 Steps of Active Posyandu

“Training alone is not enough. That’s why we are committed to strengthening the role of health workers in providing consistent mentoring, clear supervision, and multi-stakeholder support so that cadre skills continue to grow and remain relevant to community needs. Investing in cadres is a long-term investment—not only for today’s children but also for generations to come,” said Karina Suryawinata, Director of the 1000 Days Fund.

Measurable Impact: Stunting and Low Birth Weight Down

This collaboration has produced concrete results. Over the past year, the 1000 Days Fund intervention area in North Lombok has seen:

  • Stunting reduced from 25% to 21%

  • Low birth weight (LBW) cases reduced from 9.15% to 7.88%

“At today’s event, I could see firsthand the extraordinary collaboration among stakeholders—from village heads to health office leaders. There is a strong sense of ownership in strengthening local health systems,” said Zuraida Hamdie, Director of YABN.

The 5T Approach for Cadres

Beyond training, the 1000 Days Fund has introduced the 5T Cadre approach to ensure cadres are:

  • Trained

  • Equipped

  • Supervised

  • Incentivized

  • Secured through official village decrees

The event also recognized winners in categories such as Best Posyandu, Favorite Posyandu, Best Cadre, and Inspirational Beneficiary.

“The role of cadres has shifted from being seen as ‘volunteers’ to being recognized as ‘workers’ with heavier responsibilities and demands. This requires sustainable support—training, tools, incentives, and job security,” Karina added.

Local Government Commitment

North Lombok District Secretary Anding Duwi Cahyadi expressed appreciation to all partners, particularly the 1000 Days Fund and YABN, for contributing to building a healthy and smart future generation in North Lombok.

“Safeguarding health is not only the government’s responsibility—it is our collective duty. While stunting in North Lombok remains a challenge, rates have dropped significantly from 33% to 13.5%. The key factor is family. When families are healthy and happy, children will thrive,” he said.

Anding emphasized the importance of both cadres and parents in ensuring proper nutrition and care for children as the next generation of North Lombok.
