KEY POINTS
– 1000 Days Fund COO, Dr. Rindang Asmara on Friday signed off on the Financials for the 2023 Annual Report ahead of the invite-only launch in Jakarta on May 8th at Harum Manis.
– Dr. Rindang also highlighted how the team’s time in Jakarta would usher in the Q2 Board Meeting, held alongside meetings with donors, media and government stakeholders.
– Key staff will fly to Jakarta on Wednesday for a week of jam-packed events, most notably the launch of the 2023 Annual Report, the Q2 Board Meeting, & the Presidential Decree Draft Meeting with the Ministry of Health.
“We continue to be the Ministry of Health’s go-to for all things stunting & community health workers,” Dr. Riri said. “Of course there will be new people coming in November, but we have worked hard, signed MOUs & bolstered critical relationships with those who push policy to the top. Those relationships remain a priority.”
Against this backdrop, the 1000 Days Fund will deliver donor reports to PWC & the Tolaram Foundation and Quantedge on Thursday, detailing the success of Centers of Excellence in Manggarai Barat, Timor Tengah Selatan & Kupang, where the stunting rate has dropped by 50%.
As we turn the corner on the election, the 1000 Days Fund is gearing up to welcome the new Minister of Health, presenting our policy strategy in an effort to formalize Indonesia’s workforce of 1.5 million frontline community health workers.
“The most effective stunting campaigns are high-tech, high-touch and community-driven, said Dr. Rindang. “The core idea driving 1000 Days Fund efforts—“meet people where they are”—could transform Indonesia’s healthcare system.”
Founder and CEO, Zack Petersen explained that the 1000 Days Fund’s impact is a direct result of consistency and the team’s laser focus on the mission.
“”Our expansion and growth, both as an organization and a thought leader, have never been greater,”” said Zack. “”Preliminary data shows our districts outperform control districts by 33% — a significant reduction in stunting as compared to stagnation nationally. Our results reflect both the strength of our training and the surging demand that we are seeing across Indonesia for our stunting solutions. Our high-tech, high-touch approach to ending stunting and chronic malnutrition—holding training sessions in community spaces, installing growth charts in people’s homes, & scaling on-line upskilling clinics & certification—can be applied nationally across all 34 provinces. After nearly five years of investment, we have positioned ourselves as a fundamentally cost-effective solution to stunting prevention, and our results reflect this ongoing transformation.””
As the 1000 Days Fund continues to refine the research agenda and measure impact we are excited to report that the Research Advisory Board meeting in Bali was a success, with Research for Impact.
“”The RAB has some of the most impressive names in malnutrition and policymaking. Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta offered to stick around for an extra day and meet with the team. This is the equivalent of Michael Jordan coming to town and playing a pick up game with the team.”””
